Where is Spurs new stadium?

It’s a question I seem to have heard a lot recently, in fact just last week a friend of mine asked “where is Spurs new stadium?” on our lads whatsapp group chat. It took me back, I thought all football fans most know by now where it is considering how long it has taken to build and finish.

The answer of course is… exactly where their old White Hart Lane ground was as it’s been built right on top of the same area of land and a bit more. It’s just taken the Spurs hierarchy and of course the builders a little longer than planned to get the place open since Tottenham’s last ever game at the old stadium before it was knocked down.

I’d been to the old ground plenty of times, most of the time in the away end but on a couple of occasions I’d been in the home end too. I liked it, you could get a beer beforehand and the atmosphere was always good. Safe to say I have happy memories of the place and I don’t just mean result wise.

It got me thinking though, when would I get the chance to go to the new ground? It maybe a while and I wanted to know more as soon as possible having only seen the incredible pictures of have it looks, so I got in touch with a friend of mine who’s been to all three of Spurs’ games there so far and here is what he had to stay.

Tottenham Hotspur Stadium – Spurs’ fan verdict

The new stadium is great. The best thing is that as it’s on the same site it feels like White Hart Lane, but is bigger, louder and newer. The acoustics are fantastic and you are close to the pitch and therefore the stadium has the vibrant atmosphere that some of the big stadiums (Wembley) lack.

It feels like a stadium for the fans with features like the white wall and the club have resisted the temptation to chase the corporate revenue with Club World or Corporate entertainment that detract from the atmosphere. Spurs were unbeaten at home in their last season at White Hart Lane and this feels like an opportunity to make it a fortress again.

As first impressions go, he seemed very pleased and I myself was hoping it hadn’t gone to corporate even though I’d heard there was a brewery and an art gallery inside. Unless I’ve heard wrong. As there is certainly nothing worse than pricing out your regulars and your loyal fans for day trippers and/or just the rich. I had a few questions too.

  • Where are your Season Tickets and was there much issue with getting them altogether?

Our Season tickets are together in the North Stand middle-tier. We’ve got some of the cheaper tickets and therefore only about 10% more expensive than before. There are some very expensive options if you have the money.

  • I heard that is a MASSIVE bar there too?

There is a huge long bar on the ground floor which I have not been to yet. That’s designed to try to get fans to stay after the game. The 5th floor where we are sells pies and beers at £4 per pint (which for London isn’t that bad).

  • What were the queues liking getting in and is security high?

No delays getting in, although you walk through the airport style metal detectors before you get to electronic turnstile. No bags allowed whatsoever (apart from stuff bought from the Spurs shop in a Spurs bag). Makes it difficult if you have come straight from work with a laptop bag on a night game. In these times however all the extra security is positive. The club shop 22,000 sq ft (biggest in Europe) – again you need to pass through a metal detector.

Safe to say, I’m looking forward to going myself.
