Kante has the Opportunity to set a Unique Record

N’Golo Kante, the French midfielder that does the job of at least two men in the centre of the park, has the chance to pull off something that no other player in Premier League history has done. There is a strong chance that he could win the title with Chelsea this season, which would make him the first player to win consecutive trophies with two different clubs.

After their 5-0 destruction of Everton at Stamford Bridge, bookies were forced to re-evaluate their odds and place Kante’s club as serious title contenders. The Paddy Power sports betting markets now see Chelsea at odds of 3/1 to win the league after eleven rounds of fixtures. Kante was a vital cog last season in Leicester City’s unlikely onslaught on the established elite, and he is proving to be just as important in his new surroundings. If Chelsea manage to top the charts at the end of the season, Kante will set a new record.

The 25-year-old Euro 2016 finalist would also join a highly elite group of six players that have pulled off the rare feat of winning the league with two different clubs.

Henning Berg
Berg was the earliest Premier League player to win the title with two separate clubs. He claimed his first with Blackburn Rovers in 1994/95, then went on to win it twice more with Manchester United in 1998/99 and 1999/2000.

Kolo Toure
Toure was a member of The Invincibles, the Arsenal team which stormed to the 2003/04 title without suffering a single defeat. His second title came with Manchester City eight years later, when City dramatically won the 2011/12 campaign on the final day.

Gael Clichy
Clichy claimed his first title with Arsenal as an 18-year-old when he was filling in for the injured Ashley Cole. He followed the same path as Toure up to Manchester, and became an integral part of the team that won the league.

Carlos Tevez
Tevez won back-to-back trophies with United in the 2007/08 and 2008/09 seasons, before making a controversial switch to the Red Devils’ “noisy neighbours” for the following campaign. The Argentine formed a deadly allegiance with compatriot Sergio Aguero and helped push the Citizens to their first ever Premier League title.

Ashley Cole
Cole won two titles with the Gunners, initially in 2001/02 and then in the 2003/04 season. He signed for Chelsea in 2006 and became a pivotal member of the team down the left flank. With the Blues, he lifted the trophy for a third and final time in 2009/10.

Nicolas Anelka
Anelka played for six clubs in England’s top flight but only managed to top the table with two of them. His first winner’s medal came with Arsenal in 1998, when he was a fresh-faced 19-year-old.  The Frenchman won the prestigious trophy one more time, with Chelsea in 2010.

Will Kante join this exclusive group of players and also set a brand new record for himself? There is still a long way to go, but if Chelsea continue tearing opponents apart in such clinical fashion, the former Leicester man has a strong chance.

Mark Schwartzer has won consecutive titles with different clubs (Chelsea and Leicester) without playing a game!!

      Good point.

Yes, his situation is even more bizarre when you consider he actually played more games for Leicester the season he was giving a medal for Chelsea winning the league. I think he moved to them on a free January time.
