Joe Kinnear Back at Newcastle / Confederations Cup

Good morning. Joe Kinnear has re-joined Newcastle United under the guise of "Director of Football." Due to the absurdity of the appointment, I could finish the blog here and leave you to chew on that information for the entirety of your Monday. It is a very bizarre development at Newcastle, as Read more

Betting tips for the Premier League: who will be favourites next season to win?

The new Premier League season is set to be an exciting one, thanks to a raft of changes that have occurred at the top clubs since the end of the last one, which leave things feeling less predictable than they have for a while. The fact that Chelsea have Read more

Chelsea Agree Schuerrle Deal / Ronaldo Doesn't Sign A New Contract.

Good morning. As I trawled through the various football websites this morning, all I saw was this... Tumbleweed. Lots and lots of tumbleweed. The transfer window hasn't opened and won't do so until the July 1st, so we should all calm down in that regard. At the moment it feels as Read more

Review of the 2012/13 Season - Leicester City

The football season is over, players have gone on holiday and the tedium of transfer rumours have officially started, if not prematurely, with the transfer window not actually until July 1st. So, what to do until August when it all kicks off again? Spend time with loved ones? Take Read more

Stuart Pearce Runs Out Of Ideas

Good morning. Stuart Pearce took to blaming his young England charges as they slumped to their third defeat in three matches against European Championship hosts, Israel. When a leader blames his followers for a failure, then he is no leader. I have no prime example of why that is, but Read more

Loic Remy To Newca… QPR?!

France/Malte- Espoirs - 05.09.2008 - Qualifications - Euro2009 -
Good morning!

Super apologies for a later post than usual!

I hate indecisiveness, always have done. Not one to delve any deeper into the subject, as you don’t particularly wish to hear my pet hates and why I hate them so, but it is annoying when, as we did a few days ago, write up an article on Loic Remy joining Newcastle United in a £10 million move, how it was great news for Alan Pardew and that Remy had even refused to speak to Harry Redknapp when he travelled to Marseille to discuss a move. Loic Remy Refuses QPR Move

France/Malte- Espoirs - 05.09.2008 - Qualifications - Euro2009 -Good morning!

Marseille forward, Loic Remy, considered to be the “new Thierry Henry”, along with most other speedy French players, has said no to Harry Redknapp over a potential switch to Premier League strugglers, QPR.

Redknapp made a personal visit to watch Marseille beat Guingamp 2-1 in extra-time in the Coupe de France and discussed the possibility of Remy moving, but according to Matt Spiro on Twitter, the Frenchman refused Redknapp and is only lukewarm to the idea of joining Newcastle United. Yann M’Vila is also a player on Redknapp’s shopping list, but the defensive midfielder has also taken the same stance as his compatriot and will not be moving to Loftus Road in the near future. An Incredible Weekend Of Football

Sometimes, the moon and a variety of other planets, stars and so on, all line up just perfectly to allow an amazing weekend of football. This weekend, it’s safe to say, was one of those moments in time where everything falls nicely and the world can sit back and marvel at some wonderful football.

Amongst the fixtures, Barcelona hosted Real Madrid at the Nou Camp, the Milan derby took place, rivals Marseille and Paris Saint-Germain went toe to toe and FC Porto were at home to Sporting Lisbon. So, so many big matches took place and there’s still the English Premier League to account for, where a staggering 34 goals were scored. On top of all of that, I played my first Sunday League match in over a year, which is clearly just as important…

… or maybe not. Read more

Montpellier 1-2 Arsenal / Real Madrid 3-2 Manchester City

Olivier failed to score against his former employers.

Morning.

I’m going to start with Manchester City this morning on the premise that I didn’t watch the game, as being an Arsenal fan, I was glued to Sky Sports 2 and our match with Montpellier. Naturally, my report on City is going to be a little shorter based on the fact I saw nothing of that match.

Real Madrid have made a torrid start to the new La Liga campaign, Cristiano Ronaldo is ‘sad’, as he puts it, and Jose Mourinho is acting like a manager with the weight of the world cascading on his shoulders. If Manchester City were to have a great chance of defeating Real Madrid at the Bernabeu, then last night was as good a chance as anybody is going to get, and having taken the lead twice, they’ll be kicking themselves for weeks that they let such a good opportunity slip. Despite Real Madrid’s failings so far in La Liga however, Manchester City haven’t looked so convincing themselves, despite churning out the results. Read more

Arsenal In For M’Vila & Sahin? / Everton Capture Mirallas / Everton Ladies Stifle Arsenal

Is Yann the man for Arsenal? Oh what a cheesy caption that is…

Good morning!

Officially, we have started the season again, and by God don’t I love it. Rather than just the one article, we have three, which hasn’t been done for a while. I guess that’s what football does to you, I guess, you find time where there previously wasn’t any to script an unprecedented amount of articles.

Consequently, I shan’t beat about the bush, as I’m trying to find time that didn’t previously exist, so here we go with the transfer news and the ladies football…

Arsenal to sign Yann M’Vila and Nuri Sahin?

Like me finding time to get three articles live, (one is by Rob, admittedly) Arsenal signing five players in one transfer window is unprecedented territory. Yes, yes, I know, there were lots of players signed last summer, but can you honestly say that was scripted? I can;t imagine for a second that Arsene Wenger envisioned signing Mikel Arteta, Per Mertesacker and André Santos late on in the transfer window. No, necessity forced those moves, but these transfer deals have been strategic, as if they’ve been planned out for nearly a year.

For example, Santi Cazorla was initially targeted as the replacement for Cesc Fabregas, as was Juan Mata. A year on, owing to Malaga’s financial troubles, Cazorla is an Arsenal player, Lukas Podolski and Olivier Giroud have been signed to replace outgoing players and now, it would seem, Yann M’Vila is coming in to replace Barcelona-bound Alex Song and Nuri Sahin is joining the Gunners on a year loan to help aide the return of Jack Wilshere. Manchester United Miss Out On Lucas Moura, Then Go For RVP

Is any silver fox in the football world worth £220,000 a week wages?

Good morning!

Apologies again for yesterday’s article equivalent of the 100m, I was in such a rush that I couldn’t find time to elaborate. Saying that Steven Fletcher isn’t worth £12 million of anybody’s money, just because I think so, with no reasonable explanation, is not what this blog is about. To be fair though, Fletcher isn’t worth £12 million.

Once again though, I find myself starting an article later than I would have liked to, I even woke up earlier than usual this morning, but the current Google themes are hammering my morning routine. The game this morning on Google is slalom canoe and I don’t wish to elaborate on just how much time I spent playing the damned game. I’ve become pretty good at it though, I will say that much.

Right, to the news… Read more

M’Baye Niang / Andrey Arshavin / Van Der Vaart Staying With Tottenham?

If you have a mohawk, then you must be good.

Good morning!

Rule one of being an effective blog writer when also juggling a job and University course, is to not forget to set your alarm clock. I’m up an hour later than usual, a total disaster.

Anyway, we really are scraping the bottom of the barrel for news stories this morning, with NewsNow looking as stale as four week old bread. There are more, ‘Oscar to Chelsea’ stories than I care to read. We know he’s moving to Stamford Bridge, just get the whole affair over and done with. Oh, another ‘story’ is that Tottenham Hotspur defender, Bongani Khumalo is off to join Greek side, PAOK, on a season long loan having failed to achieve anything at White Hart Lane. Read more

Wenger – ‘Giroud Deal 90% Complete / Czech Republic 0-1 Portugal / England Team News

‘I know what would look good – a comb-over.’

Good morning!

I hope you enjoyed Adam’s article yesterday. I acknowledge it was published from my author account, one just forgot to switch accounts, like a fool. All the same, you can catch Adam on here, every Thursday morning at nine ‘o clock. If you have the inclination to write for us on a temporary, guest basis, then we’d love to hear from you. You need to be a very good writer and able to give reasoning for your arguments, if you fit that description, then do send over an e-mail.

In further news, today, we will break records on this website for traffic in a month, with over a week to go before the end of this month. If somebody had told me a year and two months ago that ‘Jumpers For Goalposts’ would be receiving X amount of hits, then I’d have laughed. It’s a pleasure writing and I hope you enjoy reading just as much. Read more

Arsenal Sign Olivier Giroud / Walcott Fit For Ukraine / England Team News

Olivier Giroud, Arsenal’s new signing.

Good morning!

First on my agenda this morning, I must say a big thank you to everyone who has been on the site recently. We’ll be breaking hit records for the website this month and the amount of people who linked to yesterday’s article using Facebook and Twitter yesterday was incredible. I take a lot of pride in my writing, so it means the World to me when lots of people are coming to Jumpers For Goalposts to read the latest article.

Anyway, I must not digress, as once again, I’ve left myself limited time in which to write this. I’ll never learn… Read more

Euro 2012 Not The Ultimate For England / Eden Hazard For Chelsea

No, not that kind of Hazard!!!

Good morning!

Reading The Times newspaper this morning, I read a lovely little line in a column by Ben Macintyre, who quoted this line from Tony Blair at the Leveson inquiry yesterday in London; ‘if you allow a lone idiot to speak without being contradicted, then that is what appears on the evening news’. After a protestor had broken into the courtroom, shouting, ‘this man should be arrested for war crimes! JP Morgan paid him off after the Iraq war’, Lord Leveson pointed out that since the protestor was an illegal intruder, Tony Blair was therefore obliged to make no comment at all if he so wished. It was then that Blair pointed out what happened if you allowed the lone idiot to shout the loudest, and it’s a quote I really, really like.

This isn’t a political blog, far from it, infact if you look in the rules section we speak about different politcal factions and how we don’t tolerate extremist views from any side, so I don’t wish to hear argument and counter-argument over what payments Tony Blair did and did not receive. I doubt very much the protestor (who resembles Willem Dafoe) is privy to such information and is infact said idiot trying to shout the loudest.
