Blues’ incredible season makes them the best ever team to win the Premier League

Winning a league title is no mean feat in any country or any division. It is possible to win cup tournaments by riding your luck. Every time a cup match comes across, your team somehow puts in mind blowing displays that manages to blow away the opposition. A league is a another thing altogether. To a win a league, a team must maintain good form throughout the entire season.

A couple of brilliant performances will take them nowhere. A string of good results will be entirely worthless until and unless the team can continually produce high quality performances week in week out.  So, winning a league title is an immense task and one that deserves a lot of credit. But to win a league title in the way Chelsea did this season, is truly a commendable effort that secures the entire team a place in the history books.

The Chelsea team of this year have won the Premier League title after spending an unbelievable 274 days at the top of the tree. The Blues secured their place at the top on the 30th of August when they beat Everton at Goodison Park, and they have not let go of the spot since that day. Their 274 days of dominance also breaks any past records that were set by Premier League winners.

The previous best figure was the one set by Manchester United in the 1992/1993 season where Sir Alex Ferguson lead his team to the title after 262 days at the top. It also beats Chelsea’s own record of 257 days at the top during the 2005/2006 season. This unthinkable feat has definitely got to confirm that this Chelsea team is without a doubt the best team to have ever played in the Premier League. This single sentence has the potential to trigger a wave of criticism aimed towards myself but, there is enough evidence for me, and anyone else who thinks the same to do so.

We also have another vital statistic that helps us shed more light on the matter. The simple fact that Chelsea have lost just four games across all competitions this season is another massive indication that should crown them as possibly the best team in Premier League history. The Blues have lost just thrice in the League, at the hands of Newcastle United, Tottenham Hotspur and West Bromwich Albion to be precise. They have also lost one game at the hands of lowly Bradford City in the F.A. Cup.

This record tally is just one short of Manchester United’s record of just five losses in the entire season.  Also, for all those of you wondering where the Invincibles of Arsenal stand, then you will be surprised to know that they’re in third place on the list as even though they did not lose a single game in the League, they lost a total of six games throughout the other competitions that they took part in. So, with these two massive records that Mourinho’s men have bagged en route to their Premier League success, I think that it is fair to declare Chelsea as the best team to have ever won the Premier League title.
